Providing private feedback when leaving a reference

When you leave a reference for someone, you also provide private feedback to our Safety Team. This private feedback includes 3 parts: 1. Did you feel safe with this person? [Yes] [No] 2. Rate your experience [slider scale] 3. (Optional) Write to the Safety Team about what happened [Text Box] This private feedback is sent only to the Couchers.org Safety Team. The person you wrote the reference about will NOT see any of this private feedback! How do I leave private feedback? A box for typing a private message to the Safety Team will appear if: - You say you felt unsafe. OR - You give a low rating for your experience. You can type your private feedback in the box. When you're finished, continue to the next page and write your reference. On the page after that, you'll see a summary of your reference and private feedback to review. Important: Private feedback is only sent to our Safety Team if you finish submitting your reference. If you don't complete the entire reference process, your private feedback won't be sent. Sending more information, photos or screenshots privately to the Safety Team If you have more information, like photos or screenshots, please email our Safety Team at safety@couchers.org with as many details and as much context as possible. This information will be kept private! What happens after I submit my private feedback? If you say you felt unsafe, rate your experience poorly, or type a private feedback message, a real person on the Safety Team will carefully read everything you shared. We take your feedback very seriously. Depending on the situation, sometimes: - The Safety Team might contact you to ask for clarification or more information. - The Safety Team might not need to contact you. When we review your feedback, we always consider our Community Guidelines and the Terms of Service, and we will take appropriate action. Our goal is to maintain safety and trust within the Couchers community and to uphold the values of our global community.

Why is nudism/clothing-optional/naturism not allowed on Couchers.org?

We understand that being nude with others can be consensual and non-sexual, and we respect that many people genuinely live a nudist/naturist/clothing-free lifestyle for many different reasons. However, nudism and similar practices presents a number of problems on couch surfing platforms like Couchers.org, such as: 1. Nudism can give some people the wrong impression about couch surfing, cause confusion, or even deter people from couch surfing altogether. 2. While many nudists genuinely have no sexual intent, some people exploit this label to engage in inappropriate or sexualized behavior, which erodes trust in the community, and can create unsafe situations. 3. A disproportionate amount of moderation and support resources have been required to review, investigate, and address reports related to nudism. Prior to this change, users who identified as nudists were banned for other violations of the Community Guidelines, our Terms of Service, or other policies almost 30 times more frequently than other users. For these reasons, nudism and similar practices are not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to, practicing nudism while hosting or surfing (staying with a host), attending events or meetups, and in groups, messaging, and on profiles. Circumventing this policy by directly or indirectly mentioning, suggesting, or asking about nudism in communications on or off-platform, is not allowed. Violation of this policy will result in a permanent ban.
