How can I get more host requests?

Last updated on Apr 24, 2026

There are many ways to increase your chances of getting a host request:

  1. Make sure your hosting status is set to "Can host" or "May host". This might seem obvious, but it is most important, because otherwise you will not receive any requests!

Note: You can change your status by clicking the "edit profile" button on the dashboard.

  2. Have a great profile! For tips on how to create a great profile, check out our help page here.

  3. Make sure the location of your profile is accurate.

Note: You can update this when you click the "edit profile" button on the dashboard.

    • Make sure that the "Approximate location of your home" is set correctly. This determines where your pin appears on the map search page.

    • Also make sure your "Display location" is correct. The "Display location" appears on your profile below your picture.

  4. Log in regularly and respond quickly. People who log in regularly and respond quickly are listed higher up in search results.

  5. Get verified! Verified members are much more likely to receive a request and also appear higher up in search results. Our community is based on trust, and verifying who you are helps build trust.
Verification options include: Strong Verification, Phone Verification, and Postcard Verification. You can find each verification process by clicking on "Account Settings" in the upper-right menu.

  6. Search for yourself to see how and where you show up. Check both the snippet of your profile text and your pin location on the map to make sure they match what you expect.

  7. Engage with the community through events and discussions. Visit the community page for your local community and create an event or start a discussion.
Note: In addition to increasing the visibility of your profile in the community, events and discussions can help you engage with locals and travelers, which gives you chances to get references.
