How to send a good request

Last updated on Nov 16, 2024

Before you send your request:

1. Make sure your profile is completely filled out!

You are unlikely to receive a response if your profile doesn't have much information about you.

2. Read the "My Home", "References" and "About Me" pages of the person's profile!

3. Write a thoughtful request! You should include this information in your request:

  • Why are you visiting the area?

    • Mention the reason; You don't have to provide lots of details.
  • Why did you choose them?

    • What made you want to stay with them?

    • Do you have any common interests?

    • Show them that you read their profile!

  • Make your plans clear

    • How do you plan to spend your time in the city/town?

    • How much time will you be able to spend with your host?

    • Is anyone coming with you? If yes, who and how do you know them?

4. Remember to follow the Community Guidelines at all times.

Finding a host that will accept you can take time, so be sure to send lots of (personalized) requests! Copy-and-paste requests are strongly discouraged and unlikely to be accepted.
